A regular wants to order ahead. Who gets the order?

01What to check

Five places an order goes somewhere else

Try to order from your own site on your phone, the way a customer would. The scan looks for each of these too.

  1. Win the customer

No direct online ordering on the website

Customers who want to order ahead go to whoever has the button. If your site has none, they order somewhere else or open an app.

Check it yourself. Look for an Order button on your homepage, on your phone. Count the taps to a placed order.

  2. Win the customer

Ordering only goes through a delivery app

If the only Order button sends people to a delivery app, a regular who already knows you still comes in through a commission.

Check it yourself. Tap your own Order button. If it lands on a delivery app, count direct ordering as missing.

  3. Win the customer

Menu is hard to read on a phone

A PDF or image-only menu is the most-viewed page and the hardest to use on a phone. Search engines can't read it either.

Check it yourself. Open your menu on your phone. If you have to pinch and zoom, so does every customer.

  4. Win the customer

Phone number is not tappable on mobile

Some customers would rather call the order in. On a phone, a plain-text number forces them to copy it. A tap-to-call link is one tap.

Check it yourself. On your phone, tap the number in your header. If it doesn't start a call, it's plain text.

  5. Stay relevant

No catering or private events on the website

Catering and large pickup orders are high-ticket. If the site doesn't mention them, customers assume you don't do them.

Check it yourself. Search your own site for “catering”. If nothing comes up, a customer planning an office lunch won't find it either.

02What fixes it

Keep the apps for reach. Give regulars a direct way in.

DoorDash's own Marketplace plans charge 15%, 25%, or 30% commission on each delivery order, depending on the plan.

  1. On the website

An Order button that stays on your site

Direct ordering connected to your POS, in the header and on the menu page. Pickup first. Delivery if it pays.

  2. On the menu

A menu people can read and order from

A real web page, not a PDF. Prices, photos where they help, and the Order button next to the food.

  3. After the first order

    Bring them back direct

A receipt that asks for an email or number, then a reason to order again from your site, not the app.

03Questions

What owners ask about online ordering

Do I have to drop the delivery apps?

No. Many restaurants keep them for reach. The point is a direct Order button on your own site, so regulars who already know you don't come in through a commission.

Can the scan see my delivery-app fees?

No. The scan reads your public website. It can see whether your Order button goes to your own ordering page or straight to a delivery app, but not your contract or your fees. The audit asks.

Will this replace my POS?

Not by default. Direct ordering should feed the POS you already use. If something needs replacing, we'll say why and what it's worth first.

What happens after I request the audit?

We review your restaurant first. If something is worth a call, you'll hear from us by email to schedule 15 minutes. No pitch deck, no obligation.

Want the whole picture, not just the website?

The scan only reads your site. The Revenue Leak Audit adds your Google listing, reviews, phones, and the restaurants customers order from after you. We look first, and reach out only if there's something worth a call.
